Gneral Motors Corp. said Thursday about 7,500 of its U.S. union workers plan to take buyout offers and leave the struggling automaker by April 1.

It wasn't immediately clear how many of the 1,900 eligible workers at GM's van plant in Wentzville decided to take the buyout or early retirement offers.
